our story

We met as neighbors in 2002 and had our first children within exactly three weeks of one another. We were lucky to have each other for those crazy days of new mama-hood. We talked about how during each big transition in life (like getting married, having a baby), there's a lot of pressure to look like you've got it totally together when behind closed doors you might feel completely lost and alone. We thought about how as a society we tend to rush through significant changes in our lives without taking time to honor the wide range of emotions we are experiencing. What would happen if we created a place where we could be honest about how we felt about the changes we were experiencing? In that yes, it is amazing and wonderful to have a new baby, but there are also exhausted days when your body aches, you miss your old life, and you just want to go curl up in bed and cry. And all of that is absolutely okay and normal.

We developed the idea of creating beautiful products to honor people in the midst of change. We started with products about the changes we have recently experienced like becoming new mothers, having multiple children, and just needing some time to ourselves.

We hope our products will inspire the recipient to pause and reflect on the new phase they are entering, and to honor and acknowledge the journey they are on. Our body & soul kits provide simple yet effective ways to help ground and center you in a relatively short amount of time, because face it, we don't get many minutes alone!

On our journey with jurnee, we strive to be practitioners of balance (though we don't always succeed!). We work on our company part-time; we spend lots of time with our kids, our husbands and friends; and we always make some room in our lives for yoga and meditation to help with centering and grounding. And very importantly, we have each other to give a hug to or just listen to on the days we don't feel as driven or put together. Because that is what real life is about - loving and supporting one another through the tough days, and celebrating where we are, every day.
